Toray's See it SAFEis a concept of technical textilesmanufactured with a pure silver fibre to help the Healthcare industry in the fight against HCAI. All textiles currently in use within the healthcare environment can be supplied in the See it SAFE product that has been proven to kill, amongst many others, MRSA within the hour of contact with the fabric. This is Us doing Our bit to help You. We will all be a patient one-day.
PYJAMAS
This is probably the most important textile development as this is the closest textile to the patient. Comfortable, heat-regulating, non-allergenic and self-sanitising to help keep the patient as protected as possible within any environment. Available at a fraction of the daily drug cost to eliminate colonised MRSA, a leading London Hospital is undertaking clinical trials to prove the effectiveness of this nightwear product.

FURNISHINGS
Both window and more importantly cubicle curtains can be supplied that have proven to kill micro-organisms within the hour of coming into contact with the fabric. The same cubicle curtain could be handled by the patient, the doctor, the nurse(s), the visitor(s), the cleaner, the porter...
It only takes one visitor with colonised MRSA to negate all the cleaning carried out prior to their arrival.
As a leading supplier of re-usable surgical fabrics for gowns and drapes, we have replaced the carbon yarn used for anti-static properties, with our pure silver yarn, which has increased anti-static properties as well as anti-microbial and heat regulating dynamics. Statistics exist stating that 15% of all surgical procedures become infected.
How, why or where is not currently known, so we have a no stone unturned basis for these fabrics, in addition to creating a more comfortable environment for the theatre staff.
Developed again with both anti-microbial properties and comfort for the wearer as the main criteria. As with all our textiles, the pure silver fibre visible within the fabric is a permanent acting anti-microbial that will last as long as the garment.
As with all of our textiles, they still require cleaning and should not be considered either as a replacement or an alternative to good hygiene practises.
Nearly two years ago Toray Textiles embarked on a program of development with one simple aim, to do what we can to help in the fight against cross infection within our healthcare environment. From this came a simple concept, Create an unfriendly environment for the organisms responsible. We are not experts in the field of microbiology, health care, patient care etc but textile manufacturers and we leave those aspects to the people who are. What we can do, is to provide textiles that will HELP to aid the experts by reducing, significantly, the bio-burden they then have to combat. Our premise is preventative not curative, a much cheaper option in terms of finance for the Hospital and suffering for the patient.
